Ultra Sound for Lower Leg Pain

It has been a couple weeks and I still have pain in my anterior lower leg. The pain occasionally shifts up and down the muscles in the anterior compartment. So I finally went to a physical therapist in Vista, California. His name is Robert Seal and he's with Graybill Medical Group. So I went in and told him how my normal doctor said to get ultrasound done on my leg which would promote healing and help with the pain. So last Friday I went in and did the ultrasound for about 20 minutes. It's completely painless and almost relaxing. They put on what looks like white lotion and then just smear around the ultrasound device on my leg. I asked him if he had any advice as far as running techniques or what other things I could do besides what I was already doing that would help the healing process, but he wasn't too knowledgeable. I asked if he knew about taping and if he knew any techniques, but he was unfamiliar with sports taping. Bummer...

Later that Friday and the next day, my leg felt 90% better...I couldn't believe it. Then on Sunday, I began having that dull aching pain again :( I went back yesterday for him to do it again. Over the weekend he did some research on taping and came up with a technique, but I was a little skeptical because it didn't seem like it would do much. He did a taping that looked like this:

This would be good if I had normal shin splints or something, but this isn't where I felt the pain. He acknowledged that the pain I have is in my anterior compartment, which are all the muscles on the outside of the lower leg, so I'm not totally sure why he thought this would work. It turns out that for the rest of the day yesterday and half way through the day today, my leg is aching, and I have a feeling it was because of this method of taping. Boooooo!

So it's safe to say that I will only go back to just get the ultrasound and not really take much other advice since it's not really his cup of tea. I'm better off learning things online. Sooo...tomorrow I will go back and on Friday for more ultrasound sessions. I really need to get back into training because the half marathon is only a couple months away and I'm losing time. It's so frustrating! I will give more updates on how it will work out. I might even go this evening and test it out. Please Oh Please Leg, be good to me!
